and back in England

Those 3 months living in Paris was over quicker than I could make a second blogpost, and I already miss it so much. When you get used to having the access to the Louvre all the other great museums within walking distance, getting back to a small town in England is a bit of a let down. Good thing I have all my friends here to keep me inspired!

Updated the portfolio section with a ton of images, I will probably remove a lot of them though as having so many images might do more harm than good.

Since I returned on tuesday I've spent less time drawing than I'd like to, but a lot of time catching up with friends. Here's some life-drawings done at the university:

Now in Paris

In the beginning of January I moved to Paris, France to go on an Erasmus exchange to ESAG Penninghen. It's a school for graphic design and architecture, though heavily focused on drawing from observation. I'm taking drawing and life-drawing classes with every single year (5years) and some technical graphic, and it has proven to be a lot of fun. My french is still as horrible as it gets though, but I'm getting by.
Anyway here are a few quick drawings that has been done in class, I'm sorry for the poor quality, but there's no scanner available to us that I know of.

They're coming to get you Barbara!

In the second year of Animation Production a large part of our time is spent working on a film production. The current 3rd year students were pitching their own ideas for everyone at the end of last semester, and a several ideas were picked out to be produced untill summer. I ended up getting recruited for a production called "They're coming to get you Barbara!", a zombie flick set in the 1950s. The film is animated on paper, and my job is mainly work on layouts and colour. With permission from my directors I'm sharing a quick painting I did of one of the characters (design is by the team, which is fantastic!)

 

Recent Life Drawings

A few things have been happening lately, I was lucky to be able to do a live digital painting demo at a small venue in town. 3 djs were playing all night along with it, and a small exhibition was happening in the back. It was great fun, and even though the result wasn't all that, I learned from the experience. Hopefully I'll be able to try it again sometime, and then there will be a lot of things I will do differently. I will see if I can find some pictures of the event and post up later!

For now here's some lifedrawings I've been doing the last few weeks. Experimenting some with various medium these days, and these are all 30 minutes or less.

And I'm back

It's less than a week left of our insanely long summer vacation, and I can't wait to start on my second year. Here's two sketches I did today, spent less than an hour on each so nothing fancy. I'll try get into regular updates from now on, and hopefully I'll be able to share some of the work done at the university.
